Gift Baskets: Build a Better Basket — Out of the Box
Fruit and cookie gift baskets are always fine, but why not pull together your own basket, filled with items that you know they’ll love? Let our favorite ideas inspire your own perfect creation.
Start with a big tub (perfect for popcorn or another favorite movie nosh)—add in a gourmet popcorn mix and flavorings, a gift card for Netflix or iTunes, and a favorite movie on DVD or Blu-Ray. Fill in the gaps with boxes of classic movie candies, like Junior Mints and Jujy Fruits.

Wine Lover’s Basket
Start with a bottle or two of their favorite vintage (or a gift certificate to their favorite store), and add in some nice accessories: a cool new corkscrew, a set of wine charms, and a matching wine stopper. Put all the items together with a new wine cooler. If you’re feeling extravagant, include a pair of elegant crystal wine glasses.
Give them the makings for a wonderful breakfast: Fill a new batter bowl with your favorite gourmet pancake mix and real maple syrup, a colorful new spatula, and pancake molds in fanciful shapes. To really make it luxe, top it off with a new teapot or French press and your recipient’s favorite tea or coffee.
Start with a pretty flower pot or watering can, and fill it with a new pair of gardening gloves, an elegant set of plant markers, a few packets of seeds or bulbs, and a new pair of gardening shears.
Jet Setter’s Basket
Help make travel easier for your favorite on-the-go person. Start with a cool collapsible tote, and fill it with a stylish passport case, her favorite TSA-compliant toiletries, a packet of soothing anti-bacterial wipes, and a set of noise-cancelling headphones.
Know someone who’s in need of a little Zen in his life? Start with a stand-alone towel warmer, and fill it with an oversized soft towel, a couple of good books, a nice set of bath salts or bubble bath, an inflatable bath pillow, some aromatherapy candles, and a pair of cozy slippers to slip into after the bath.
For the master griller in your life, start with a grill basket or galvanized tub, then load it up with your favorite barbecue sauce and steak rubs, a nice set of tongs, a fun barbecue apron, and a good set of skewers.
Help your favorite pet owner spoil her favorite pooch or kitty with a basket geared just for them. Start with a cute pet-themed tote, then add in a festive collar, a jar of treats, a few unique toys —and a pretty frame for displaying a favorite picture of Fluffy or Fido.
