BB&B Goes to The Badgley Mischka Runway Show

High fashion is in at Bed Bath and Beyond, and our buyers were lucky enough to get in the action at New York Fashion Week Fall 2013. We were honored to be invited to attend the Badgely Mischka runway show to preview their glamorous Fall collection. Even before the debut of Badgley Mischka’s exclusive jewelry line at, we have been enamored with this dynamic duo’s fashion collections.

The Runway Show Begins

Lights are out. Room is still. Fog begins to fill the entryway. Then, the music starts to blare. This is how Mark Badgley and James Mischka start their Fall 2013 New York Fashion Week runway show.

The first model comes out in a basic black, knee length skirt with a gold sequin jacket. The jacket features an art deco pattern which can be seen throughout the runway and sets the tone for the rest of the collection.

This collection takes you back in time to when Katherine Hepburn and Grace Kelly brought us Old Hollywood Glamour. Yes, glamour is a word that can be used to describe Badgley Mischka’s collection. Also, timeless, embellished and unforgettable are words that can be used.

Fur, the ever-popular trend for Fall/Winter was sprinkled throughout a few pieces in the collection. Not too much fur, but just enough to keep you cozy and warm on those frigid evenings.

Gorgeous Gowns

Let’s talk a minute, or two, or three about the gowns. The gowns were absolutely amazing. A Grecian theme was prominent throughout. Badgley Mischka uses their impeccable draping skills to create delicate yet modern asymmetrical necklines in gowns of winter white, luscious red, and midnight blue. We cannot forget about the embellishments. We could not take our eyes off of the sequined appliques, embroidery, tassels, and fridge beading.

The show-stopping finale is definitely the pièce de résistance. It was a gold Grecian-inspired gown. The top of the gown, the centerpiece, was crafted of sequins that created an exquisite pattern even Cleopatra would kill to wear. This sequined effect makes its way down towards the bottom of the dress but leaves the bottom soft and flowy–a great modern finish to an elegant piece and a sensational collection.

If the Badgley Mischka Fall 2013 jewelry collection for is anything like the runway collection, then it is going to be a must-have on everyone’s shopping list.
