This Is Why Homegating Rocks

Who said tailgating has to go down in the stadium parking lot? You can have just as much (or more!) super-fan fun at home. Here, four reasons to root for homegating, and how to make your party a touchdown.

1. No Travel and Weather Stress

Swap the outdoor elements and crazy crowds for a controlled environment—yours! And because you’re not travelling, there’s also a lot less hassle—no traffic, parking, or unpacking and repacking your fan gear and grub. And you can really let your fanatic fan flag fly (without incurring awkward stares from strangers).

2. More Fans, More Fun

At home, you can hang out with friends who couldn’t buy tickets or escape from home to spend hours at a football game (because: toddlers). The only issue? How to accommodate a large party and set a fun vibe. Use folding chairs and collapsible tables with your favorite team logo to create more seating and a game-day atmosphere. Banners and tablecloths also spark team spirit.

3. Save Money

Most of your budget will go to food—but that’ll likely cost you far less than tickets to the game. And think of the money you’ll save by not having to replace items that are easily lost or left behind at a stadium, like the lucky tumbler that you must drink from all season long.

4. Fancier Foods

With all-day access to your kitchen and grill, you can hook up a smorgasbord without worrying about food preservation or storage (don’t forget your chef’s apron). This Spicy Queso Dip and Pigskin pretzel dogs will get the party started. Bourbon Glazed Ribs and Cheddar Chipotle Sliders  make delicious main attractions. And no one will believe how easy it is to make Beer Braised Pulled Pork and Chipotle Chili. What’s for dessert? Football Cake Pops.

On the drink menu: Beer. Load up mini kegs, or place bottles of brew in a rolling cooler. Craving cocktails? This salty, melon margarita is a guaranteed win!
