12 Things You Should Do To Reduce Indoor Allergens
Allergy season got you down? Not for long. These tips from the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America will help you reduce indoor allergens starting now.
1.Use Certified asthma & allergy friendly® bedding, pillow and mattress covers.
2. Wash sheets and bedding in hot water (130°F) once a week to kill allergens.
3. Keep pets out of bedrooms (sorry, Mr. Snuggles!).
4. Replace pillows every two years and mattresses every 10 years.
5. Turn on a fan in the bathroom for 15-20 minutes after showering to remove moisture from the air.
6. Prevent mold by cleaning showers, tubs and sinks often.
7. Pay special attention to areas that harbor dust and mold. Vacuum upholstered furniture, dust blinds and opt for machine-washable curtains.
8. Keep the seal on refrigerator doors clean, and store food in airtight containers.
9. Use unscented, toxic-free cleaners, candles and aerosols.

11. Keep smoke from fireplaces and tobacco products out of your home.
12. Remove jackets and shoes in the entryway or mudroom to avoid tracking in pollen and mold from outdoors.
