Hack the Meal: Things You Need to Upgrade School Lunches
The new school year is just around the corner, and, if you have kids, that means making lots of lunches. We love peanut butter and jelly as much as the next person, but variety is important. Here are our favorite items to help you take school lunch to the next level.
Keep Dressings and Condiments on the Side
To avoid soggy salads, sandwiches, and sides, pack liquid ingredients separately. Just before lunchtime, add them for freshly dressed food!
Make Your Own Healthy Lunchables® with a Bento Box
It’s no secret that kids love Lunchables®! But while they may be convenient, they may come up short nutrition-wise Bento boxes allow you to pack a Lunchables®-style meal for your kid, your way, with your ingredients. With multiple compartments, these boxes allow you to pack sandwiches, snacks, proteins and sides, veggies with dip, and more.
Pack Hot Food in a Thermos®
Some days just call for a warm, hearty lunch. But lots of students don’t have access to a microwave during the day. Use a Thermos® for soups, pasta, mac and cheese, or even chicken fingers. Food will stay warm until it’s time to eat.
Use Cookie Cutters to Add Fun
Cookie cutters aren’t just for baked goods. Use them to make lunch fun! Cut sandwiches, fruits, and vegetables into shapes. This works particularly well for picky eaters. Who can say no to cucumber slices if they’re shaped like stars?
