Super Easy and Fabulous Chocolate Croissant Bread Pudding Recipe

Decadent but so so easy, this yummy, chocolaty bread pudding is just perfect for holiday entertaining as a dessert or for a holiday brunch. And with all the holiday shopping that needs to be done, it helps to have a short grocery list for this recipe!

  • Prep Time: 10 minutes
  • Cook Time: 40 minutes
  • Yield: Makes six servings

  • 5 chocolate croissants or pain au chocolate, cut into chunks (about 7 cups)
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 quart chocolate milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup bittersweet chocolate chips
  • Granulated sugar or confectioners’ sugar for decoration
  • Vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for serving

  1. Arrange cut up croissants in a shallow 3-quart baking dish.
  2. Whisk eggs in a large bowl, then add chocolate milk and vanilla and whisk until blended.
  3. Pour mixture evenly over croissants. Push croissants down so they are submerged in liquid. Let stand 15 minutes for croissants to absorb some of the liquid. Meanwhile, preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  4. Sprinkle top of baking dish with chocolate chips and bake uncovered 35 to 40 minutes or until top is set and a knife inserted in center comes out clean. Sprinkle with granulated sugar (which gives a nice crunch), or confectioners’ sugar and serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream if desired.

This reheats well in the microwave if you want to make it ahead but still serve it warm.
